What a Mandal Actually Does With Your Biodata
A vadhu-var suchak mandal registers your profile, prints or forwards it, and matches it against their existing list. Their staff spends under a minute per profile. If a required field is missing, the profile is set aside rather than chased.
The Non-Negotiable Fields
| Field | Why the mandal needs it |
| Full name and date of birth | Registry entry |
| Birth time and place | Patrika matching |
| Rashi, nakshatra, gotra | First-level filtering |
| Kuldaivat and mool gaav | Community matching |
| Height, education, job, income | Preference filtering |
| Father's occupation, siblings | Family-side matching |
| One reachable phone number | Every follow-up depends on it |
| Clear portrait photo | Shortlisting |
Format Rules Mandals Prefer
- One page only. Two-page profiles get trimmed by hand.
- PDF, not a photo of a printout. Print quality matters when they photocopy it.
- A4 or 5×7 print-ready. Many mandals still maintain physical files.
- Marathi text for Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur and Nagpur mandals; Mumbai mandals accept English too.
City-Level Differences
- Pune / Nashik: kuldaivat and gotra are checked strictly; Marathi text expected.
- Mumbai / Thane: bilingual biodatas are common; income and work location matter more.
- Nagpur / Amravati: mool gaav and family background carry extra weight.
- Kolhapur / Sangli / Satara: traditional formats with an invocation line at the top are preferred.
